While Canadians across the country enjoyed the northern lights Tuesday night, those in the southern hemisphere also got to partake in the powerful solar storm.
One New Zealand man filmed a timelapse of the southern lights in the town of Templeton, near Christchurch.
According to reports, the solar storm was so powerful that the spectacle was visible in regions where the lights rarely appear.
The rare event was also captured by several excited witnesses on social media.
