The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge marked St. Patrick’s Day by upholding a decades-old royal tradition.
On Tuesday, William and Kate attended a parade at Mons Barracks in Aldershot, England. The royal couple greeted members of the Irish Guards, presenting them with sprigs of shamrocks.
More than 200 soldiers from the 1st Battalion Irish Guards marched in the annual parade.
Kate shelved the traditional green attire for a long Catherine Walker coat. William wore his Irish Guards coat, carrying a ceremonial sword.
Prince William was appointed a Colonel of the Irish Guards, a Light Role Infantry Battalion, in February 2011.
Following the ceremony, William enjoyed a pint of Guinness with the regiment. Kate meanwhile, who expecting her second child this spring, stuck with water.
