Jets license plates on the road

It’s the day Winnipeg Jets fans have waited weeks for.  The Jets license plates were released today and most insurance brokers across the province had long line-ups before they opened this morning.

At Horizon Ryan Gateway Insurance in Winnipeg Square, about 50 people waited almost an hour to be the first to get their plate.  Many excited to show their pride for the team as their driving around the city and out of province.

Earlier this year, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers released a limited edition of a Bomber plate.  They sold 8000 but the excitement around the new NHL franchise has forced MPI to released 20,000 plates.

The plates cost $70.

Each broker received 50 plates.  It’s expected by the end of the day, the first shipment of plates will be gone, but MPI will be releasing more Tuesday.
