Saskatchewan Huskies men’s basketball team finishes 5th

TORONTO – Dadrian Collins scored 29 points Saturday to lead the Saskatchewan Huskies to a 99-94 win over the Windsor Lancers and fifth place at the CIS men’s basketball championship. Ben Baker added 19 points and Matthew Forbes chipped in with 16 to help pace the eighth-seeded Huskies.

Khalid Abdel-Gabar led the second-seeded Lancers with 21 points.

Trailing by three at the end of the first quarter, Saskatchewan outscored Windsor 32-17 in the second to lead 46-34 at the half. The Lancers pulled nine points back in the third quarter and led briefly at 90-89 in the dying minutes but could not hang on.

Saskatchewan was consigned to the consolation bracket after losing 90-50 to top-seeded Carleton in quarter-final play. The Huskies rebounded from that loss to defeat No. 5 Dalhousie 90-79.

Windsor was upset 82-68 by No. 7 Ryerson in its quarter-final. The Lancers then beat Bishop’s 91-80.
