Final race marks the end of Crashed Ice in Edmonton

EDMONTON — It’s the final night of action for the Red Bull Crashed Ice competition, with the best of the best squaring off for the ice cross world championship.

Thousands of people have descended on downtown Edmonton for the final race. The ice cross downhill world champion will be crowned Saturday night.

The race is thrilling for both spectators and competitors, with athletes reaching speeds of 70 km/h as they barrel down the 415-metre course.

The three-day Crashed Ice event kicked off Thursday in Edmonton. While the unseasonably warm temperatures caused a few race delays Friday evening, it didn’t stop Edmontonians from taking in the free event.

The final race begins at 8 p.m. Saturday and wraps up around 10 p.m.

Red Bull Crashed Ice will be Live on Saturday night on Rogers OLN at 8:30 p.m., on Red Bull TV and on redbullcrashedice.com.

Fans gathered downtown early Saturday afternoon to get a good spot for the main event.
