EDMONTON – Just a few days away from the start of the spring session in the Alberta legislature, and potentially a few weeks away from a widely-expected spring election, the Alberta New Democrats find themselves as the only opposition party with a permanent leader.

Rachel Notley won the leadership of the party in October, replacing the long-serving Brian Mason, and has made an immediate effort to gain traction in parts of the province the NDP has historically been shut out of.

This week on the provincial affairs podcast, Notley joins Global’s Tom Vernon and Bob Murray from the Frontier Centre for Public Policy to discuss preparations for a potential election, what she believes is a desire from Albertans for a progressive alternative to Premier Jim Prentice, and the state of Alberta’s healthcare system.
