Nine people charged in Grande Prairie meth bust

EDMONTON – Nine people have been arrested after a police investigation into a group suspected of trafficking methamphetamine in the Grande Prairie area.

The Alberta Law Enforcement Response team, an umbrella law-enforcement organization that tackles organized and serious crime, worked with a number of other groups to execute five search warrants in Grande Prairie and the surrounding area.

A number of drugs, including methamphetamine, ketamine and marijuana, were seized in the searches. Stolen property, prohibited weapons and $30,000 in cash were also found by police.

One of the locations searched by police was a commercial building in Grande Prairie, where police believe the accused were taking apart stolen vehicles and then selling the parts.

Five men and four women are facing over 20 charges, including drug trafficking and possession-related charges.
