CALGARY – Family and friends are searching for Calgary teenager Shyla Behl, a 17-year-old who’s been missing for two weeks.

Last seen leaving her school in Kingsland, Behl’s mother Sasha says she’s checked “every seedy hotel” and CTrain station in the city.

Behl has been missing since February 19, and though police consider her a “high risk teen,” her mother says she’s never gone missing before.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

“She always gets in contact with me one way or another, always,” said Sasha Bell. “She’s never shut down her Facebook. She’s never lost contact with everybody.”

Friends say Behl got into trouble last fall when she started using drugs and going to clubs despite her young age.

“She got messed up with the wrong crowd,” said friend Malicque Rodriguez. “Hanging out with the wrong people for a bit, she started going to clubs and stuff even though she’s underage.”

Her mother started a Facebook page to try to spread the word that Behl is missing and needs help. Police say if you see her, contact them but don’t approach her.

“You don’t realize just how many of these kids there are this young and younger that are hooked on this stuff…and that’s what’s scary,” said her mother.

“People go missing all the time and they don’t make it home. … It doesn’t matter what she’s doing; it doesn’t matter if there’s drugs. It’s my baby.”
