Northwestern Alberta crash claims Grande Prairie woman’s life

EDMONTON – A 34-year-old Grande Prairie woman died in a collision on Tuesday night, just south of the city in northwestern Alberta.

The crash happened on Highway 40, south of the Wapiti River at around 7:30 p.m. Police said a southbound tanker truck and a Cadillac Escalade SUV driving north collided head-on.

The female driver of the SUV and the only person in the vehicle died at the scene. The driver of the tanker truck, a 46-year-old man, wasn’t injured.

A collision analyst was called to the scene, where police determined the collision was not criminal in nature and charges will not be laid.

The name of the woman is not being released.
