KELOWNA – A report of smoke brought the Kelowna Fire Department to a downtown area condominium tower Tuesday afternoon.
The caller said they saw smoke coming from the balcony of a fourth floor suite at the Executive House high-rise.
The occupants weren’t home so firefighters used a ladder to access the balcony.
They found a smouldering cigarette had been left in an ashtray placed in a planter.
Platoon Captain Tim Light says an ember must have dropped out of the ashtray and ignited the planter material.
The issue was quickly dealt with and no damage was caused.
