ShawCor awarded US$45-million contract for Arabian Gulf pipeline project

TORONTO – ShawCor Ltd. said Wednesday it has landed a more than US$45-million contract for a pipeline project in the Qatari sector of the Arabian Gulf.

The Toronto-based energy services company (TSX:SCL.A) (TSX:SCL.B) said under its contract with Hyundai Heavy Industries it will provide corrosion protection and concrete weight coating for the Barzan pipeline.

The work will be done by ShawCor’s pipecoating division, Bredero Shaw, at its facility in Ras al Khaimah in the United Arab Emirates.

The work, in which ShawCor will coat 292 kilometres of up to 24-inch pipe, is set to begin in early 2012.

ShawCor provides products and services to the oil and gas industry. It has more than 70 manufacturing and service facilities around the world.

Bredero Shaw, its largest division, employs about 4,000 permanent and contract personnel in 15 countries.
