SASKATOON – The City of Saskatoon and the Saskatoon Police Association have agreed on a new contract. The agreement will see police receive an 11 per cent wage increase over the four years of the contact.
Under the agreement, the sides changed the way officers are paid. Under old agreements, police were paid 98 per cent of the Prairie provinces average.

The first increase takes place on April 1 when police will receive a 2.5 per cent pay increase along with a 0.50 per cent market adjustment.
Changes were also made to the pension plan. A new targeted benefit pension plan will be introduced on Jan. 1, 2016, which will replace the current defined contribution plan.
Officials say the new plan will give officers a better idea of their income in retirement.
