CALGARY – It was supposed to take a couple of days but it appears the Peace Bridge just couldn’t wait.
The bridge has already made its way across the Bow River.

The bridge began moving just before 11:00 a.m. Thursday morning. Hydraulic jacks moved the bridge 20 centimetres at a time.
The bridge will now be moved east and lowered into its permanent location. Once the structure is in place, crews will install cement flooring, handrails, security cameras and lighting.
Officials say the bridge could be open by January.
