ARMSTRONG – RCMP in B.C.’s Okanagan Valley have released a sketch of a suspect in the Taylor Van Diest murder.
The 18-year-old girl’s body was found in Armstrong on Halloween night. The cause of her death has not been released.
Police say the man is also a suspect in a sexual assault in Kelowna in April 2005.
The RCMP poster includes a sketch of a man with the following description:

– Caucasian man with a darker skin tone
– 19 to 20 years old, now 25 to 26 years old
– brown eyes, short dark hair
– 5’8″ to 5’10” tall with a tall, stocky build
– large distinct sideburns and thick eyebrows
Van Diest was reportedly headed to a Halloween party when she was killed. Her body was found by friends near train tracks.
He death touched off a wave of sadness in the small community.
On Nov. 10, police released the text of a letter from someone claiming to be the killer, and threatening further violence against women.
The letter prompted a public warning from police for women to walk in groups and be aware of their surroundings.
