McDonald’s Big Mac Special Sauce auction attracts $22,000 bid

TORONTO – If you wish you could put McDonald’s Big Mac sauce on your homemade burgers, well now you can — but it’s going to cost you.

McDonald’s Australia is auctioning off a bottle of the special sauce used on the chain’s famous Big Mac, but it will cost you at least C$22,000 ($23,100 Australian).

McDonald’s Limited Edition Big Mac Special Sauce Bottle #1 of 200 is being auctioned off on eBay, with all proceeds going to the Ronald McDonald House Charities Australia.

“For too long Big Mac Special Sauce has been trapped in a beautiful, delicious burger – now we’ve set it free!” the eBay ad reads. “So slide the mustard, mayo and tomato sauce to the back of the fridge – because everything tastes better when it tastes like the Big Mac.”

The auction ad plays with the idea that everything tastes better with the fast-food chain’s special sauce, including “your boyfriend’s gross lasagne.”

The auction for the 500ml bottle in only open to residents of Australia and closes Feb. 11.

And buyer beware: the bottle has a best before date of May 23, 2015.
