Cappo said she’s known the victim and his wife for two years.

“It was scary. I couldn’t sleep all night,” she said. “I didn’t know what to think. I didn’t know if they were going to come back.”

Cappo saw two men running from the scene.

“I saw them getting in, and I saw them driving off … I know that it was a dark-coloured vehicle, a four-door. And it was either black or navy blue,” she said.

Two women, 22 and 33, were also assaulted. They were treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Cappo said the victim and his wife were peaceful and respectful neighbours.

“They’re having a grand baby—supposed to be—in May, their first grand baby,” she said.

Cappo said the homicide has traumatized her family so deeply, they plan to move.

“I have four kids in my house, and I don’t feel safe here anymore,” Cappo said.

The criminal investigation division and coroner’s office continue to investigate the homicide.

Police say no arrests have been made.
