Variety Show of Hearts Telethon 2015: How to watch, donate

VANCOUVER – The Variety Show of Hearts Telethon 2015 takes place Feb. 14 – 15.

This will be the 49th year of the telethon, which raises millions of dollars for children with special needs in B.C., and presents heart-warming stories of children from across the province.

Every year, Variety gives grants for medical emergencies, therapies, specialized equipment, drug prescriptions and out-of-town accommodation and travel costs.

WATCH: How you’ve helped the kids in previous years

A sneak peak at this year’s Variety show includes concerts from Elton John and Sheryl Crow. The telethon will be broadcast from 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 14 to 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 15, on Global BC and Global Okanagan.

Last year the telethon raised $6,671,138. It took place at the Hard Rock Casino Theatre in Coquitlam and featured live performances from the Royal City Musical Theatre production of “Annie;” “Shrek The Musical;” “The Dog Song;” and “Freshh.”

The first telethon was staged in October 1966 and raised $60,000. The Show of Hearts is the longest running telethon in Canada.
