WINNIPEG – A Winnipeg woman and her brother are accused of trying stab her boyfriend to death while he slept.
The 45-year-old man suffered multiple stab wounds to the upper body on Jan. 12. Emergency crews were dispatched to a home on Mountain Avenue west of Arlington Street shortly after 7 a.m. and he was rushed to hospital in critical condition. His condition was later upgraded to stable.

The man was sleeping when his girlfriend’s brother started punching and stabbing him while she egged him on, police allege.
The man got away and police were called.
Sheldon Brent Maytwayashing, 38, was arrested Monday and charged with attempted murder, possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose and two counts of failing to comply with a probation order.
His sister Wanda Theresa Maytwayashing, 40, was arrested Jan. 14 and charged with attempted murder and failing to comply with the conditions of a recognizance.
