CALGARY – No one was injured in a fire that sparked in the city’s southeast industrial area on Tuesday.
Crews were called to Carpenter Canada Co. in the 5880 block of 36th Street S.E. around 6 a.m.

Carpenter Canada Co. manufactures Polyurethane foam, which is used in everything from furniture and mattresses to tires.
When they arrived, firefighters discovered smoke pouring from the rear of the building, which encompasses an entire city block.
The building was occupied when the fire sparked, but workers were able to get out safely when they heard fire alarms.
Crews were able to get the fire under control, but temporarily closed 60th Avenue S.E. and 36th Street S.E. as they battled the blaze.
