TORONTO – A new minor league baseball team in London has created quite the controversy from it’s name and logo.
The London Rippers, introduced their new logo earlier this week – a shady looking man, wearing a black top hat and cloak, holding a baseball in one hand and a bat in the other.
Some say it’s a reference to Jack The Ripper – the serial killer who terrorized east-end London, England in the 1880’s, and targeted women.
Joe Fontana, the mayor of London, was one of those who voiced concerns, saying he plans to speak to the owner of the team about changing it.

Though, the controversy has sparked the creation of a Facebook group supporting the logo. The page asks people to “Show your love by “liking” the Official London Rippers facebook page! The London Rippers name and logo are awesome! Don’t let the haters force a chance!!”
