Temperature records shattered across the province with flow of warm air from the tropics

A flow of warm air from the tropics generated record-breaking high temperatures on the South Coast on Sunday.

Records were set in many different parts of Metro Vancouver, including White Rock that saw a whopping 15.3 degrees, beating the old record of 12.6 degrees set in 2005.

YVR, Abbotsford airport and Hope airport all saw temperatures soaring, setting new records. Both Port Alberni and Comox airport on Vancouver Island shattered long-time temperature records as well.

In Whistler, the temperature went up to 8.9 degrees, breaking the old record of 7.6 degrees, set in 2014.
