REGINA – Mounties are treating the death of a woman found in northern Saskatchewan as a homicide.
The 28-year-old aboriginal woman was found dead Saturday afternoon on a remote snowmobile trail about 15 kilometers northwest of Prince Albert in the RM of Buckland.
Police have identified the woman as Monica Lee Burns from Prince Albert.
The RCMP is investigating with the assistance of the Prince Albert Police Service’s Forensic Identification Services.
Officers said the investigation is still in its early stages but more details are expected to be released Monday morning.
An autopsy has also been scheduled for Tuesday.
