MONTREAL – It’s officially ‘Tobacco-free week’ in Quebec.
According to the Quebec Council on Smoking, sixty-six percent of Quebecers are still touched directly or indirectly by health problems caused by smoking.
This year, organizers are highlighting the extraordinarily painful health problems smokers often face in the final stages of their lives.
Smoking claims 200 victims per week in Québec, thus accounting for about 10,400 avoidable deaths per year.
Close to one in five deaths can be attributed to smoking.
Tips on how to kick the habit can be found here.
