A witness told police the man’s speech was slurred and he smelled of alcohol. The witness provided a description and direction of travel allowing officers to make a quick arrest.

“There are impaired drivers on the road at all times of the day,” says Cst. Chris Neid. “Sometimes it’s from the night before, people just haven’t stopped drinking. It’s not surprising at all to find someone impaired at 9:30 in the morning.”

The man was taken to the RCMP detachment for breathalyzer tests.

Some engine fluids leaked from the pickup into the water which flows into Brandts Creek. Fire Department crews used absorbent pads to sop up the pollutants.
