WATCH: Pub owner releases surveillance video in connection with suspicious fire

The owner of a Burnaby pub gutted in a fire over the weekend has now released surveillance video of suspicious activity he believes to be connected to the fire.

Pal Singh says the video shows two break-ins that happened at Marine Pub at 5820 Marine Drive on Nov.18 and Dec.17.

“There were three individuals who walked into the pub,” says Singh. “Two guys, one girl with hoodies, ski masks and gloves.”

In the first break-in, the suspects can be seen walking around the pub, but they did not take much. The second time around, the suspects appear to spend more time on the patio.

Singh says a window was also broken and an old cash register was taken.

“It is my conspiracy theory that they were seeing how fast the cops show up and how fast the alarm company reacted,” says Singh.

But police investigators have not contacted him yet.

The pub was destroyed Saturday morning in a three-alarm fire after plastic chairs on the back deck were set on fire.

The fire leaves 22 people without a job. Many employees have worked at the local watering hole for more than 20 years.

Singh says he hopes to rebuild the pub after the investigation is complete.
