REGINA – There were some tense moments in west Regina this afternoon after police were called to investigate a report of a stolen car with a young child inside.
Officers were called to a parking lot in the 5000 block of 4th Ave. just before 2:00 p.m. They arrived to find the car abandoned in the parking lot with the child, unharmed, still inside.
Further investigation revealed that a man had left the child inside the running car and left it unattended. When he returned several minutes later, the car was gone.
The car was quickly discovered in the same parking lot, but in a different location.
It wasn’t immediately clear how long the child was left in the vehicle, but temperatures at the time were in the -20s.
Police are currently reviewing video and interviewing witnesses.
