Elderly Entwistle couple found dead in apparent murder-suicide

EDMONTON – The bodies of an elderly couple were found in a home west of Edmonton on Wednesday afternoon, dead of an apparent murder-suicide.

Evansburg RCMP were asked to check on a caller’s elderly parents at their home in the hamlet of Entwistle, which is about 100 kilometres west of Edmonton.

Police arrived at the home in the early afternoon to find the doors locked from the inside and no signs of forced entry. When officers entered the home they found the bodies of a man and woman, both 73-years-old. It’s believed they died of gunshot wounds.

Autopsies to confirm the cause of death are tentatively scheduled for Thursday afternoon.

RCMP Major Crimes from Edmonton and Edson Forensic Identification Services helped Evansburg RCMP with the investigation. Police said they are not looking for any suspects.
