CALGARY – A serial rapist who has preyed on Calgary woman is being released from prison.
On Thursday, Andrew Aurie Jefferson will be released.
Five years ago, the city was put on edge following a rash of violent sexual assaults; the suspect was known as the Falconridge rapist.
Following the release of several composite sketches and a massive police manhunt, Jefferson was caught. He was ultimately sentenced to six and a half years in jail but was given two and half years credit for time already served.

He has now served his entire sentence.
However, the Parole Board feels he is at a high risk to reoffend. In a statement, the board writes “in all likelihood, Jefferson will be smarter when released and will be more difficult to catch.”
Addressing Jefferson, they write “You have not lowered your risk and therefore remain a risk to commit an offence causing serious harm”
Jefferson does not plan to return to Calgary but move to the Kelowna area.
Global News has learned Jefferson has agreed to be monitored by the Kelowna RCMP for two years following a list of court imposed conditions.
If Jefferson decides he wants to move back to Calgary or any other location he is required to have it approved by the RCMP.
