SASKATOON – A man is facing a number of charges after being Tasered by Saskatoon police Monday morning. It began when a patrol officer spotted a stolen truck from Alberta in the 2900-block of 18th Street West.

When the officer approached the truck, he saw a man sleeping and what appeared to be a firearm. A second officer arrived and the pair attempted to arrest the man.

He refused to leave the truck and began fighting with the officers. At the same time, he put the truck into gear and hit a snow bank.

The man then got out of the truck but refused to listen to officers. At that point, one of the officers zapped him with the Taser.

He was taken to hospital for treatment and released into police custody. A search of the truck turned up three firearms and spent rounds of ammunition.

The 24-year-old man is facing over 15 charges including two counts of assaulting police and numerous firearm charges.

He is expected to appear in Saskatoon provincial court Tuesday morning.
