WATCH: Mudslide knocks Washington home right off foundation

Heavy rain and flooding has led to a muddy start to 2015 in some areas of Washington State.

Power outages and mudslides are threatening the safety of homes in western areas, and residents in the cities of Aberdeen and Hoquiam have been advised to evacuate.

Officials say that at least three homes in Hoquiam have been knocked off their foundations due to mudslides, while a landslide has forced a major highway to close.

Live updates from KIRO TV, a local news outlet, reported that a landslide in Hoquiam have stranded around 200 to 300 people.

There are also reports that a section of a road in Aberdeen sank and slid down a hill, cutting off residents in the northwest area of the city.

The Washington State Patrol has been deployed and is reporting that in addition to the flooding in the two cities, many parts of southwest Washington are experiencing road closures due to landslides and flooding.
