CALGARY- Police are still looking for a suspect involved in an attempted sexual assault in the city’s northeast.
It happened around 7 p.m. on Friday Dec. 26 near the Brentwood Shopping Centre.
Police say it happened as a woman was leaving the Brentwood LRT. She was attacked from behind and dragged into an alley, but she fought back and managed to get away.

The attack has left transit users on edge, with many calling for increased security on Ctrain platforms— especially at night.
There are some protections already in place. LRT Stations have multiple security cameras installed to ensure passenger safety.
“It’s very secure there’s video everywhere on the LRTs and transit stations,”
Video from one of those security cameras helped convict Christopher Watcheston in the murder of Arcelie Laogan several years ago.
He had followed Laogan from the station, sexually assaulted her and killed her.

Police are now releasing a more detailed description of the suspect involved in the attempted sexual assault on Friday.
He’s described as 35 to 40 years old, 6’ tall with a heavy build, a pock-marked face and medium length, black, stringy hair.
He was reportedly wearing a dark-coloured jacket, dark-coloured hoodie pulled over his head and dark pants.
“We’re looking into surveillance video. We do have video right now, but we can’t release it — it would compromise our investigation, we need to keep it a bit longer,” says Sgt. Bev Voros with the Calgary Police Sex Crimes Unit.
The man was last week walking south on Brentwood Road.
Police are warning transit users to be vigilant, travel in groups and avoid distractions such as iPods or iPhones.
The Calgary Police sex crimes unit is unvestigating.
