ARMSTRONG – Hundreds of mourners gathered in an Armstrong park Sunday as that North Okanagan town copes with several recent tragedies.
The quiet community, 25 kilometres north of Vernon, has lost four young people since September, including 18-year-old Taylor Van Diest.

Her Halloween night slaying remains unsolved, leaving Armstrong residents on edge as RCMP search for a killer and try to determine if the attack was random or targeted.
Mounties expect to update their investigation this afternoon.
Sunday’s memorial also honoured five year old Ava Mae Claassen and her four year old brother Austin, who died in a motor home fire last month near the Fraser Canyon community of Lytton.
And those attending the Moment of Remembrance event paid respects to 18-year-old Cullen Rowan, a classmate of Van Diest’s, who died in a workplace accident in September. (CKIZ)
