Saskatchewan Penitentiary inmate dies on way to hospital

SASKATOON – An inmate from the Saskatchewan Penitentiary died en route to a hospital, according to Correctional Service of Canada (CSC). Darcy Charles Alexson, 50, passed away on Christmas Day while being taken to Saskatoon.

Alexson was serving a 26-month sentence for possession of a prohibited/restricted firearm with ammunition, possession of a weapon contrary to prohibition order, driving over 80 mg and possession of a schedule II substance. He had been incarcerated since August 2013.
