He’s been training the sport overall since 2011 and is trying to earn a spot on the Canadian team that will compete in the 2015 Parapan American Games in August, which is the qualification tournament for the 2016 Paralympic Summer Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

“It’s really hard to describe pulling a jersey on and representing your country in sport. As a kid that’s something I dreamed about,” recalls Bossaer.

“I obviously didn’t think it would be in wheelchair basketball. Being able to get that opportunity is amazing. The men’s team is the pinnacle of the sport in the world. It would be amazing to represent my country.”
