Teagan Batstone remembered as a joyful young girl at memorial

An emotional memorial has been held for the Surrey girl, who was found dead last week in the trunk of a car.

More than 300 people packed into a Surrey church to remember Teagan Batstone.

The eight-year-old’s body was discovered last week.

Her mother, 41-year-old Lisa Batsone, has since been arrested and charged with second-degree murder.

Batstone does not have any other children and appeared in court last week. She was crying in the prisoner’s box before being taken away by the sheriff.

She will be making a court appearance this morning.

Batstone has also asked to be seen by a psychiatrist and a doctor because she is on “heavy medication.”

Those who knew the family are struggling to understand what happened, but are remembering Teagan as a joyful young girl.

Debbie Back who knew Teagan says she was always a bright spark and glowed every time you saw her.

“She always had a smile and was always friendly,” says Back.

IHIT is leading the investigation along with the Surrey RCMP and an autopsy will be performed to confirm the cause of death.
