At the park zoo, smokers will be limited to two areas away from walking paths.
Park spokesman Kevin Hunter says many people, especially families with young children, have asked for the smoke-free areas.
He says the new policy is similar to the City of Winnipeg‘s ban on smoking at outdoor athletic fields.
Smoking is still allowed in the park’s general green spaces, parking lots and other areas.
