Two pedestrians in hospital after being struck in southeast Edmonton

EDMONTON – Edmonton police are investigating after two people in their 20s were hit at a marked crosswalk in southeast Edmonton Monday evening.

Just before 8 p.m., the man and woman were walking across 98 Avenue at Terrace Road when they were struck by a westbound vehicle, according to police.

Both pedestrians were treated and taken to hospital with injuries. The 22-year-old woman is believed to have life-threatening injuries and remains in hospital in critical condition. The 27-year-old man’s injuries are said to be non-life-threatening.

Neither excessive speed nor alcohol are believed to be factors in the collision, which police continue to investigate.
