Saskatoon Police Taser home invasion suspect

SASKATOON – A police officer deployed his conducted energy weapon (CEW) at a break and enter in progress just after midnight Saturday. An unknown man reportedly kicked in the front door of a home in Saskatoon’s Pleasant Hill neighbourhood, with five teenagers and two children inside.

When the officer arrived at 137 Avenue U South, he encountered the suspect at the front door. The suspect fought with the officer and managed to retreat back into the home while the residents were still inside.

During a struggle inside the house, the officer used a Taser on the suspect who was then taken into custody.

Once released from hospital, the man was taken to the police detention facility.

Police say no one was injured during this incident.

The man is facing several charges including break and enter, assaulting a police officer, breaching his undertaking and breaching his probation. He is scheduled to see a justice of the peace Saturday.
