QUEBEC CITY, Que. – Canam Group Inc.’s (TSX: CAM) Structal-Bridges division said Monday it has won a $27-million contract to make the steel structure to replace and expand the Moses Wheeler Bridge in Connecticut.
Under the contract, Structal-Bridges will supply about 400 steel girders for three bridges crossing the Housatonic River in Milford, Conn.

“The landing of this major contract confirms Structal’s solid reputation and know-how in the North American steel bridge industry,” Structal-Bridges vice-president Robin Lapointe said in a statement.
The girders will be constructed at the Canam Group plant in Claremont, N.H., with delivery beginning in March 2012.

Structal-Bridges makes bridges, structural bearings and expansion joints from plants in Quebec City; Laval, Que.; Claremont and Point of Rocks, Md. Parent company Canam operates more than 25 plants and engineering offices in Canada, the United States, Romania, India and China.
