EDMONTON – RCMP in Ponoka are issuing a warning after an attempted child abduction on Dec. 4.
Officers say a 10-year-old girl was walking home from school and says she was approached by a man she didn’t know. He asked her to leave with him to get some candy, then the man continued to follow the girl, who ran to a nearby business for help.
The RCMP was contacted about the incident around 3:25 p.m.
Ponoka RCMP are reminding parents to talk with their children regularly about personal safety and that there is safety in numbers.
The suspect in this case is described as:
– a Caucasian male between 30 and 40 years old
– around 5’8” or 5’9” and approximately 170-190 pounds
– had a brown mustache
– was wearing a black winter coat and a green toque
