HALIFAX – A poll released Monday shows that Stephen McNeil’s Liberal Party is still strongly supported by Nova Scotians, more than a year after the last provincial election.
The latest figures released by Corporate Research Associates (CRA) indicate that 64 per cent of decided voters support the Liberal Party, while 18 per cent support the opposition Progressive Conservatives, 15 per cent support the NDP and three per cent support the Green Party.
The poll also reported 31 per cent of Nova Scotians are undecided on which party they support, five per cent refused to state a preference and six per cent support none or do not plan to vote.
The party support numbers remain virtually unchanged from the previous poll conducted by CRA in August 2014.
CRA also reported 63 per cent were satisfied with the performance of McNeil’s government and 25 per cent are dissatisfied. Eleven per cent did not offer an opinion.
McNeil also scored high personally, with 47 per cent expressing support for him. Conservative Leader Jamie Baillie scored lower at 14 per cent support while NDP Leader Maureen MacDonald had 11 per cent support.
The Liberals scored a resounding victory in the October 2013 provincial election, winning 33 of 51 seats.
The poll was conducted with 800 adults in the province from Nov. 6-26 and the results are considered to be accurate within 3.5 percentage points, 95 times out of 100.
