Editor’s note: This story has been updated to reflect new information from Tabatha Bundesen on how much her famous cat has earned.
Grumpy Cat, arguably the most important cat on the Internet, has raked in the cash over the past two years, according to a report in U.K. media. But just how rich is Grumpy Cat’s proud owner? She’s won’t say.
A report in Express stated that the cat has earned owner Tabatha Bundesen nearly $100 million. But Bundesen told the Huffington Post on Monday that report is “completely inaccurate,” declining to say how much the cat has earned.
Bundesen did tell Express the cat is unstoppable. “What she’s achieved in such a short time is unimaginable and absolutely mind-blowing,” said the 28 year old from Arizona.
Grumpy Cat, whose actual name is Tardar Sauce, rose to Internet fame after a photograph of the sour-faced feline was posted on Reddit in September 2012. A video posted to YouTube followed, which has more than 16.6 million views to date.
Bundesen said within days of Grumpy Cat’s debut on social media, she quit her waitressing job and never looked back.
Next came the Grumpy Cat merchandise, a best-selling book and eventually the TV movie Grumpy Cat’s Worst Christmas Ever. She even has an agent to handle her public appearances.
If the Express figure was correct, the cat would be worth more than many A-list celebrities, including Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, Kanye West and Iron Man himself, Robert Downey Jr.
