DARTMOUTH – Brittany Connors opened her store, Vivacious Vixen Apparel, a year ago in Halifax where a large portion of the items she sold were handmade by Connors herself.
On Saturday, she reopened her doors in a new location after being closed for three weeks.
“We had a break-in and about 90 per cent of our stock was stolen,” she said.
Connors was robbed of everything: one-of-a-kind inventory, a cash register and debit machine, even hangers. It was a devastating loss for her and her family right before the Christmas rush.

“It was a big blow. It’s really hard to be here and be open today. it’s a little scary,” she said.
Following the break-in, Connors didn’t know if she was going to be able to reopen, but today she’s putting the final touches on her new store with the help of her husband and four-year-old daughter.
“I wasn’t sure what was going to happen. I wasn’t sure I was going to have the money to reopen.”
The young entrepreneur and mother of two has had a lot of help to get back on her feet in the past few weeks.
“There’s been so much community support, it’s amazing. The small business community has done separate fundraisers, my family has been really helpful, my best friend Holly did a crowd-funding campaign,” she said “I can’t even believe all the people that have done so much.”
Customers and friends started arriving at the new location before the store even opened this morning, all to show support for Connors and how she’s overcome every small business owner’s nightmare.
“I was proud of her to begin with and then after all this, it’s amazing to get open,” said friend, Stephanie Nairn,
