TORONTO – Bombardier Aerospace says an unidentified Chinese airline has signed a conditional agreement to buy six six regional aircraft in a deal worth US$264 million.
The transaction, announced late Wednesday, also includes five options on the planes – CRJ900 NextGen aircraft.
In those options are converted to firm orders, the value of the contract would increase to US$491 million, the company said.

“Since the introduction of the original Canadair Regional Jet in 1992, Bombardier’s CRJ Series aircraft have become the best-selling regional aircraft program in history and we look forward to welcoming more operators in China,” said Guy Hachey, president of Bombardier Aerospace.
More than 80 Bombardier-produced aircraft, including CRJ Series and Q-Series commercial aircraft, as well as Learjet, Challenger and Global business jets are currently operating in China.
The aircraft maker is part of Bombardier Inc. (TSX:BBD.B), a maker of planes and rapid transit trains with operations around the world and $17.7 billion in revenues for its last fiscal year.
