Changes begin as Vancouver Whitecaps release two assistant coaches

VANCOUVER – The changes have started with the Vancouver Whitecaps.

The Major League Soccer team fired assistant coaches Colin Miller and Denis Hamlett on Wednesday.

The Whitecaps finished their inaugural MLS season with a 6-18-10 record, last in the league. The team failed to win a game on the road.

Vancouver started the season under coach Teitur Thordarson, but he was fired early in the campaign. Tommy Soehn, the director of soccer operations, took over the coaching duties. Martin Rennie has been hired to coach the team next season.

Miller joined the Whitecaps in 2010 and Hamlett started with the club in 2011.
