VANCOUVER – If someone told you that one of the most memorable plays of the 2014 Grey Cup came on special teams, you’d probably think Brandon Banks would be involved. The speedster had a touchdown called back in the fourth quarter that killed any hopes of a Tiger-Cats comeback.

He also had a solid kick return early in the second half, but what really had fans talking was a bone-crushing, blindside block by Justin Hickman on Stampeders punter Rob Maver that helped set up Banks’ 45-yard run.

As Banks made his way along the left sideline, Hickman crushed Maver, who was trying to get in on the play. The Hickman hit on Maver was so hard it took out teammate Keenan MacDougall as well.

Maver suffered an abdomen injury on the play and did not return to the game.
