P.E.I. Tory leader names critics, promises to keep government accountable

CHARLOTTETOWN – P.E.I.’s Opposition leader has named critic responsibilities for her caucus, saying the Conservatives will ensure the Liberal government makes decisions in the best interest of all Islanders.

Olive Crane called members of her newly elected caucus strong community leaders with diverse experience and knowledge.

She will oversee the premier’s office and the Departments of Community Services, Labour, Education, Justice and Public Safety.

Steven Myers, the member for Georgetown–St. Peters, becomes Opposition house leader and critic for Finance, Municipal Affairs, and Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal.

Hal Perry, who represents Tignish–Palmer Road, will handle Francophone Affairs, Environment and Energy.

James Aylward, the member for Stratford–Kinlock, has been handed responsibility for Health and Wellness, and Tourism and Culture.

Colin LaVie, who represents Souris–Elmira, is the critic for Agriculture, Fisheries and Rural Development.

The Liberals won 22 of the 27 seats in the provincial legislature earlier this month.
