MONTREAL — Another Montreal-area store has come under fire for its breastfeeding policies, which a Kirkland mother called a bitter moment for her and her baby.

Marianna Aboulhosn took to Facebook after being chastised in the Vaudreuil-Dorion Babies R Us store for breastfeeding in a public space. After describing the incident as “unpleasant and humiliating,” she went on to explain what happened.

“As I was sitting in the wooden chairs meant for customers in the furniture section, I was asked by a mature employee to go feed my baby in the bathroom, which was in a very unclean and stinky state (as it was their nursing room),” she wrote.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

“The Manager of the store followed with a comment saying that Babies R Us has a policy that prohibits babies to nurse on the shopping floor!”

Toys R Us responded directly to the complaint on Aboulhosn’s Facebook page, apologizing for any inconvenience the incident may have caused.
