MONTREAL — Brace yourselves, Montreal commuters, it’s going to cost a few more dollars a month to take the metro — but city officials claim services will be improved.
The city’s transit agency (STM) has confirmed that there will be fare increases for 2015.
After a document was shared with city employees in advance of an official briefing on Thursday, the agency released both the 2015 fares and its 2015 budget on its website on Wednesday afternoon.
“The budget is 1.4 per cent higher than last year, which actually means a belt-tightening budget,” city councillor and STM vice-chairman Marvin Rotrand told Global News.

“The only reason the budget makes any sense is because Mayor Denis Coderre has pumped in $25 million more.”
