Police respond to 2 other hit-and-runs

Halifax police also responded to two separate hit-and-run incidents on Wednesday evening.

The first happened at Herring Cove Road near Greystone Drive at 7:40 p.m. Police said a vehicle hit a car into a ditch before driving off. Police said they found the vehicle they believe hit the car, but are still searching for the driver.

An infant and two adults inside the vehicle that was hit were taken to hospital and later released.

The second incident, which happened at Lacewood Drive and Dunbrack Street at 9:40 p.m., resulted in charges against a 16-year-old boy. Police said the teen was turning left at the intersection and struck another vehicle before driving off.

The three occupants of the vehicle hit, including a four-year-old girl, were treated at the scene by emergency crews and released.

A number of people witnessed the collision and took the licence plate number of the vehicle that drove off, and police traced it to a nearby home where they arrested the boy. He will be in court at a later date to face charges of failing to remain at the scene and failure to yield to a vehicle in an intersection.
